(NOTE: In all these questions the acceleration is a constant.)

1.      At car is moving at a speed of 25 ms-1. It accelerates at a rate of 6 ms-2.
Find its speed after 3 seconds.
Answer

2.      An athlete is running at a speed of 7.5 ms-1.
She accelerates at a rate of 8 ms-2 for 0.25 seconds.
Calculate her speed at the end of the 0.25 seconds.
Answer

3.      A racing car is travelling at a speed of 62 ms-1. It decelerates at a rate of 15 ms-2.
It takes 2.3 seconds to stop. How far did the car travel in that time?
Answer

4.      A cheetah starts from rest. It accelerates at a rate of 9.2 ms-2 for 3 seconds.
How far does the cheetah travel in this time?
Answer

5.      A stone is dropped from rest. It falls 2.5 m.
Calculate its speed at the end of the fall.
(The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 ms-2.)
Answer

6.      An object has a velocity of 5 ms-1. Its acceleration is 14 ms-2.
Calculate its speed after it has travelled a distance of 1.3 m.
Answer

7.      A train is travelling at an initial speed of 12 ms-1.
It accelerates at a rate of 14.8 ms-2 for 3.5 seconds.
Calculate the distance it travels while accelerating.
Answer

8.      A bullet accelerates from rest at a rate of 3000 ms-2.
It travels a distance of 0.17 m. Calculate its final velocity.
Answer

9.      A horse is running at a speed of 4.8 ms-1.
It accelerates at a rate of 6.1 ms-2 for 2 seconds.
Calculate its speed at the end of the 2 seconds.
Answer

10.  A stone is thrown vertically upwards at an initial speed of 30 ms-1.
It decelerates at a rate of 10 ms-2.
